"There are times, such as a disaster response or a public service events, where simplex is the most reliable means of communication. Simplex has a limited range, and requires messages being relayed. This low power simplex repeater was constructed to hopefully improve the reliability of simplex communications in these situations. This unit is equipped with a 12 volt battery and a small solar panel to maintain reliable communications over an extended time period."
